Great news for K-Pop fans worldwide as BTS member Jin finishes his National Service stint. He recently completed his 18-month service in the South Korean army and was discharged just this Wednesday.
In South Korea, all male citizens aged 18-35 are required to serve between 18-21 months, depending on the branch of military service they join. Jin, at 31, is the oldest member of the boyband, with the other six members yet to complete their service.
BTS announced their group hiatus in October 2022 to fulfill their service commitment, with each member enrolling by December 2023. The record label, Hybe Records, has tentatively set a completion date for mid-2025 for the remaining members.
In terms of individual members:
SUGA
SUGA, also 31 years old, started his National Service in September. As a Social Service Agent, he is exempt from active duty due to health reasons stemming from a shoulder injury in 2012. Social workers like SUGA typically care for the elderly and disabled, serving for about two years. His service is expected to end in September 2025.
… And so on for each member.
