Unfortunately, the injury bug has struck the Los Angeles Dodgers again. Recently, powerhouse players like Mookie Betts and ace starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto faced setbacks. Betts fractured his hand, while Yamamoto landed on the 15-day injured list due to a strained rotator cuff. Although Betts and Yamamoto will be sidelined for some time, their injuries are not season-ending.

Yamamoto left his start on Saturday after just two innings due to triceps tightness. Despite feeling slightly sore before the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts initially didn’t consider it serious. Originally slated to pitch on Thursday against the Texas Rangers, Yamamoto’s start got postponed to Saturday.
While Yamamoto’s four-seam fastball velocity dropped to 93-96 mph, a significant decrease from his usual range, his performance in the two innings hinted at an underlying injury.
This injury significantly impacts the Dodgers’ starting rotation, as Yamamoto had been a standout rookie performer. With a remarkable June record of allowing just one earned run in three starts, Yamamoto justified his hefty contract. Holding a 6-2 record and an ERA of 2.92 with 84 strikeouts over 74.0 innings, he was a crucial asset for the team.
Although this setback is unfortunate for Yamamoto, the Dodgers must adapt without several key pitchers out. The team anticipates the return of right-hander Bobby Miller this week, providing some relief. Dodgers fans can only hope for Yamamoto’s swift recovery and his prompt return to the pitcher’s mound.
