Wheel of Fortune enthusiasts were eager to catch iconic host Pat Sajak’s return on the latest season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, but it seems they’ll need to exercise a little patience.
In a press release from ABC shared on TVInsider on October 11, the network announced that it would be rescheduling Celebrity Wheel of Fortune due to six new Monday Night Football simulcasts added to their lineup.
“ABC is a hub for premier NFL programming, including Super Bowl 61 in February 2027,” the statement explained. “The addition of these simulcasts is a strategic choice made with the NFL for the 2024-25 season, optimizing cross-promotional prospects across the Disney platform.”
Other shows impacted by this change include Press Your Luck and ABC News’ Scamanda, which are now pushed to midseason.
The move aims to ensure that Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck can run more consistently during midseason, minimizing interruptions from football and the upcoming 2024 elections.
Originally set to premiere on October 14, fans are understandably disappointed by the delay.
“Today would’ve been the premiere of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck, but now we have to wait until 2025,” expressed one fan on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a gif of Jack Black exclaiming, “this is a nightmare.”
As of now, a new premiere date for season 5 of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune has yet to be revealed. However, fans can look forward to appearances from Ellie Kemper, Tiffany Haddish, Oscar Nuñez, Andrew Rannells, and more when the show returns.
