Teenage swimming star Erin Gemmell, part of Team USA, has found a fun way to merge her Olympic journey with her fandom for Taylor Swift.
While at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gemmell and her roommate, fellow athlete Torri Huske, spent their downtime crafting friendship bracelets inspired by the pop icon. They are clearly excited for an upcoming Eras Tour concert later this year.
In a TikTok video shared from the Olympic village on July 29, Gemmell showcased their crafting session, revealing their unique creations at the end.
“My roommate and I are making bracelets in the Olympic village for her Taylor Swift concert—because there’s always time for Taylor,” Gemmell wrote in her post. Among their creations were a bracelet reading “Ms Americana,” paying homage to Swift’s song, and one featuring red, white, and blue stars with “Paris”—a nod to their host city and a track from Swift’s Midnights.
The video also featured their bracelets arranged to mimic the colors of the Olympic rings, celebrating their time at the games. Gemmell even shared some “Olympic Ring reject” bracelets, playfully stating they were “still cute tho.”
In her caption, she cheekily addressed Taylor Swift: “@Taylor Swift please tell us you watch swimming.” While Swift hasn’t yet responded, fellow fans filled the comments with encouragement, with one saying, “swiftie first, olympian second 💞💞💞 lol wishing you the best!!!!” Another fan exclaimed, “As a Swiftie and a swimmer, this makes my heart happy 🫶🫶.” The excitement around this heartwarming moment continues to grow!
