One prominent member of the Duggar family was noticeably absent from recent wedding photos.
The wedding took place on August 15, where 18 of the Duggar children, along with their spouses and children, gathered to celebrate Jana Duggar’s nuptials to Stephen Wissmann. The ceremony was held in Arkansas at The Grand at Willow Springs and was attended by around 500 guests.
However, Anna Duggar, who is married to Josh Duggar, and her seven children were missing from the family photograph, leading fans to wonder if there might be tension within the family.
The U.S. Sun later reported that some fans believed Anna was at the wedding after spotting her in an Instagram story shared by Alaythia Wissmann, the groom’s sister.
At 36, Anna’s situation is complicated as her husband, Josh, is currently serving a 12-year and seven-month sentence for child pornography charges, which he pleaded not guilty to in December 2021. Just a week before his arrest, they announced they were expecting their seventh child, Madison.
Josh has faced multiple allegations, including molestation claims involving his sisters Jill, Jessa, Joy-anna, and Jinger. Despite the serious nature of these allegations and his legal troubles, Anna has chosen to remain married to him.
Josh is incarcerated in Seagoville, Texas, with a possible release date of October 2, 2032. After serving his sentence, he will undergo 20 years of supervised release during which he cannot have any unsupervised contact with minors, including his own children.
The controversy surrounding Josh escalated in 2015 when several women made claims of molestation against him. In a public statement, he expressed regret for his past actions, stating, “I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret.”
Josh has made numerous attempts to appeal his child pornography conviction but has faced rejections at every turn. His acquittal request was denied in January 2022, and subsequent appeals in June 2022 and June 2024 were also unsuccessful.
