Glen Powell has established himself as a prominent name in Hollywood, with a busy acting schedule that keeps him in the spotlight. His next project is set to showcase a completely different side of him.
Filming for the Hulu series Chad Powers kicked off in Atlanta on August 20. In this show, the 35-year-old Powell portrays a disgraced college quarterback who takes on the persona of a fictional player named Chad Powers to revive his career. On set, he sported a comically loose blond wig, a prosthetic nose, and fake teeth, along with a blue Nike shirt emblazoned with the number 200 and bright yellow shorts.
The series is inspired by a character created by retired NFL quarterback Eli Manning, who introduced Chad Powers in a comedic sketch for ESPN+. Both Manning and Powell are on board as executive producers for the project.
Powell’s ascent in the industry was not instantaneous. He got his start with a minor role in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over back in 2003. His major break came in 2015 as the lovable Chad Radwell in Scream Queens, but it was 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick that catapulted him into A-list territory.
In a conversation with Interview, Powell reflected on his steady path to success.
“Hollywood has a natural ebb and flow,” he noted. “You give it your all, take a step back, and allow people to miss you before returning. It’s all about believing in a long-term career rather than chasing quick fame.”
Joining Powell in Chad Powers are Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Matfield, and Quentin Plair.
