Gwyneth Paltrow recently shared an intimate moment on her Instagram Story, marking a significant milestone in her family life — her son Moses is heading to college. The actress and entrepreneur engaged in a light-hearted Q&A session on August 23, where she addressed a follower’s heartfelt question about the college drop-off experience.
A follower asked, “Have you dropped both kids off to college? I’m not okay…Cornell/Northeastern,” perfectly capturing the bittersweet emotions many parents face during this transition.
In reply, Paltrow strolled through her garden and said, “Not yet.” Just then, her 18-year-old son Moses popped into frame, casually dressed with a beach towel around his neck, joking, “She hasn’t quite gotten rid of me,” prompting a playful gasp from his mom.
Moses, who is set to join the freshman class at Brown University, represents a new chapter for Paltrow and her husband, Brad Falchuk, as they prepare for a quieter home. During a chat with The Sunday Times in March, she expressed mixed feelings about the upcoming empty nest. “It’ll be interesting to see how the morning routine changes with no kids in the house,” she remarked.
Alongside Moses’s departure, Paltrow’s 17-year-old stepson, Brody, is also heading off to university, making this a season of change for the family. Their daughter, Apple, is already pursuing her studies at Vanderbilt University.
Paltrow shared her feelings of “incredible sadness” but also acknowledged the importance of this life stage: “Your kids are supposed to be young adults who can achieve and cope… And that means they leave the house,” she noted.
Gwyneth and Chris Martin, her ex-husband and Coldplay frontman, were married in 2003 and parted ways in 2015, but together they raised Apple and Moses.
