Harrison Butker, the Kansas City Chiefs kicker, is standing firm on his views expressed during a commencement speech earlier this year, particularly about women’s roles at home. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle” on October 10, he addressed backlash from his comments made at Benedictine College on May 11.
Butker explained, “I was aiming to celebrate women who have committed to being homemakers and nurturing their children. It’s a beautiful role that shouldn’t be undervalued.”
His comments have once again ignited discussions on social media. Many responded to a video clip from the segment shared on X (formerly Twitter). One user remarked, “This aligns with both Trump and Harrison’s views on women,” while another suggested, “He should just focus on football.” There was also mention of a fan celebrating his NFL jersey sales, noting that Butker has recently outperformed teammate Travis Kelce in merchandise sales rankings.
Butker’s earlier speech stirred controversy as he urged female graduates to consider becoming wives and mothers, saying, “While some of you may pursue successful careers, I bet most of you are looking forward to marriage and children.” His comments also included critiques of topics like abortion, IVF, and surrogacy, with a controversial take on Pride Month.
In the recent segment, he reiterated that his intentions were rooted in goodwill, stating, “I come from a place of love.”
