Natalie Suleman, famously known as Octomom, surprised the world 15 years ago when she became the first mother to give birth to a surviving set of octuplets. Now, she’s embracing a new title—grandma!
Suleman proudly shared this joyful news on her Instagram on Sunday, September 23. The post featured a sweet glimpse of a baby’s foot peeking from a pink fuzzy blanket.
In her post, the 49-year-old celebrated the arrival of her granddaughter, expressing her gratitude to her son and daughter-in-law: “Thank you for this beautiful gift! We are so blessed to welcome her into our family. Baby girl, you are so loved, and we can’t wait to watch you grow!! 8/30/24.” She refrained from revealing the baby’s name or which son became a father.
Her followers quickly flooded the comments with congratulations. One fan exclaimed, “OMG, can’t believe you’re a grandma now!” while another shared, “Congratulations! Enjoy your new grandma role. ❤️😍.” A third wrote humorously, “This girl’s 13 uncles and aunts will never let her get bullied.”

Back in 2009, Suleman made headlines after giving birth to her octuplets—Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jonah, Makai, Josiah, and Jeremiah—following in vitro fertilization. This remarkable delivery was made possible by implanting 12 embryos and ultimately resulted in a C-section birth. Alongside her octuplets, she is also the mother to six older children: Elijah, 23, Amerah, 22, Joshua, 22, Aidan, 19, and twins Calyssa and Caleb, who are around 16 or 17.
The identity of Suleman’s children’s father has remained private, but she previously told People that she financed the sperm donor’s services. “It wasn’t much, but enough to set clear boundaries,” she explained. “This was strictly a business arrangement.”
