1,000-Lb. Sisters star Amy Slaton is back home after a serious incident involving drugs and child endangerment. Luckily, her sister Tammy Slaton stepped in to help during this tough time.
The trouble began on September 3 when Amy, 36, and her partner Brian Scott Lovvorn were arrested at Tennessee Safari Park. What started as a call regarding a camel bite quickly escalated into multiple charges, including drug possession and child endangerment. Witnesses saw Amy being taken from the scene on a stretcher.
According to a law enforcement source who spoke with People, Tammy, 38, picked up Amy’s children, Gage, 4, and Glenn, 2, after their mother’s arrest. However, it’s unclear whether the kids were collected from the zoo or the police station.
After being released on a $10,000 bond, Amy and Brian were seen leaving the police station with Amy’s brother, Chris Combs, at the wheel. The couple was spotted holding hands as they exited.
Amy had sustained an arm injury, which was temporarily treated using a shirt until help arrived. However, zoo owner Jon Conley expressed skepticism about her story, mentioning to TMZ that there are no records of camel bites and no surveillance footage to support her claims.
Post-arrest, People reported that Amy’s children were placed under the care of a family member, with the Tennessee Department of Child Services currently evaluating the situation. It remains unclear if that family member is Tammy.
Amy shares her two kids with her ex-husband, Michael Halterman, who filed for divorce earlier this year after four years of marriage.
