Tom Brady has come under fire after using an insensitive term to describe Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen during a live Fox Sports broadcast. During the game commentary on October 28, Brady referred to Allen as playing “like a spaz,” a term that many find offensive, particularly to those with disabilities like spastic cerebral palsy, as highlighted by the National Center on Disability and Journalism.
Social media exploded with criticism shortly after his comment. One user on X pointed out how the term is “highly offensive to people who have physical disabilities as well as their loved ones,” while another added, “Brady really just said a player played ‘like a spaz’ Ew..”
On the other hand, some fans defended the 47-year-old, arguing that the backlash shows an overreach of political correctness. One user commented, “grow tf up stop being so soft.”
As of now, neither Brady nor his representatives have commented on the incident. Since retiring from the NFL in February 2023, he’s been adjusting to his new role in broadcasting after signing a staggering 10-year deal with Fox Sports that guarantees him $375 million.
This controversy follows the news that Brady’s ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, is allegedly expecting her third child, which would be her first with her new boyfriend, Joaquim Valente. The couple divorced in October 2022, and she began seeing Valente in June 2023. Shortly after the baby news surfaced, Brady shared an Instagram Story of a sunset accompanied by Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” featuring heart emojis—a gesture perceived by some as a response to Gisele’s announcement.
Brady and Bündchen were together for 14 years and have two children: Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11. Additionally, Brady shares another son, John, 17, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
