Rapper 50 Cent is on the cusp of reaching billionaire status, but he’s keen to emphasize that his wealth hasn’t altered who he is.
With an illustrious career spanning over 20 years in music, acting, producing, and even ventures in fashion and liquor, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has amassed a significant fortune.
While he remains somewhat secretive about his exact net worth, he did share insights about his financial growth in an interview with US Weekly. He followed up on X (formerly Twitter), humorously clarifying his need for discounts.
“👀I don’t want this to make you think I don’t need a discount, 😳because I want a discount. LOL •” he tweeted, alongside a link to his clothing line.
While not the first billionaire in hip hop—Jay-Z holds that title—50 Cent is focused on leaving a legacy for his son, Sire, who is 12 years old. “That’s the idea. What’s left of me will be there for him,” Jackson remarked during the interview.
He’s not rushing toward billionaire status, citing concerns over attracting unwanted attention. “I don’t measure money like that; I look at my successes and achievements,” he explained. “I’ve surpassed everyone’s expectations, and my longevity in the industry keeps me motivated. What’s the hurry? I’ve acquired all the cars I desire, many times over.”
Pursuing billionaire status could expose him to new challenges, he warns. “When people hear you’re a billionaire, everyone comes after what you have. The IRS might decide they want a cut. You’d need to protect yourself from the swarm of lawyers.”
For him, becoming a billionaire wouldn’t change much. He believes in giving back and building a legacy that outlasts wealth. “People tend to remember those who help others,” he said, “rather than just those who hoard riches.”
Born and raised in Queens, New York, 50 Cent rose to fame with his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which included the iconic hit “In Da Club.” Over his career, he has sold over 300 million albums globally and was named 17th in Billboard’s list of the 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time last year.
