Anna Sorokin, better known as the notorious con artist Delvey, was eliminated from the reality TV competition Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday after performing to KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” with her partner Ezra Sosa. Now, she’s shifting her focus to an upcoming documentary, stating that she has “no plans to join another reality show.”
As a result of her criminal activities, Delvey was fined $24,000 and ordered to pay nearly $199,000 in restitution. Her story inspired the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna, which aired in 2022.
In a recent interview with Variety, Delvey shared her thoughts on the Netflix series, created by Shonda Rhimes. “That wasn’t a docuseries; it was fiction,” she expressed. She noted the show’s disclaimer which states it’s based on real events, but acknowledges creative liberties. “I won’t dissect Shonda Rhimes’ vision,” she added. “It is what it is.”
Julia Garner, who played Delvey, visited her while she was incarcerated, and Delvey described her as “a very sweet person,” emphasizing that she understands Garner was just fulfilling her role.
Currently, the 33-year-old is on house arrest due to a visa overstaying issue and was seen wearing an ankle monitor during her time on Dancing with the Stars. Delvey commented, “I usually charge it once a day for about 60-90 minutes.”
Despite only being on Dancing with the Stars briefly since its September 17 premiere, Delvey and Sosa quickly bonded. Sosa, 23, shared on TikTok the conflict he feels between her controversial past and the person he knows. “No one deserves the amount of hate that she’s getting. She deserves a second chance,” he shared.
