Billy Baldwin Stands Firm on His Views About RFK Jr.

Billy Baldwin recently found himself in a heated exchange on social media with Hercules star Kevin Sorbo, following Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to endorse Donald Trump.

Baldwin, known for movies like Backdraft and War of the Worlds: Extinction, announced that his long-standing friendship with Kennedy had come to an end due to the endorsement. On Friday, Kennedy suspended his independent presidential campaign to support Trump in the upcoming November elections.

Feeling disillusioned, Baldwin took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, posting a detailed message expressing his disappointment with Kennedy’s choice, declaring he could no longer consider him a friend.

In his response, Baldwin stated, “I too completely disavow and dissociate myself from Bobby Kennedy Jr.,” referring to a public condemnation made by Kennedy’s siblings, who described their brother’s endorsement as a betrayal of family values.

Kerry Kennedy, one of his sisters, expressed her outrage during an MSNBC appearance, criticizing her brother’s ‘obscene embrace’ of Trump, and expressed her strong disapproval of his actions.

Baldwin, whose family includes actors Alec and Stephen Baldwin, stood firm after Sorbo, a known Trump supporter, dismissed Baldwin’s sentiments with a flippant “Nobody cares.” Baldwin clapped back by sharing metrics from his original post, highlighting that it garnered millions of views, indicating that, in fact, some people did care.

In the replies, users weighed in with mixed reactions. Some praised Baldwin’s standpoint, while others criticized him, suggesting he was merely seeking attention or reacting emotionally.

Baldwin’s statement reflected on his decades-long friendship with Kennedy, detailing their shared history and Kennedy’s past ambitions for political office. He noted moments when Kennedy could have pursued significant roles in politics, describing the final push he saw to endorse Trump as a “Hail Mary” driven by desperation.

In closing, Baldwin articulated that Kennedy’s endorsement represented a departure from the Kennedy family legacy and a personal betrayal of his previously held political beliefs, condemning the move as one of political cowardice.
