Bradley Whitford’s Viral Moment with Cheryl Hines and RFK Jr.

Actor Bradley Whitford, known for his role in The West Wing, didn’t hold back when he called out Cheryl Hines and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., on social media, and his comments quickly caught fire online.

After RFK Jr. withdrew from the presidential race last week, the 64-year-old Whitford took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Hines, 58, for her silence as her 70-year-old husband backed former President Donald Trump in his campaign for re-election.

In his post to over 483,000 followers, he referred to RFK Jr. as a “lunatic” and Trump as an “adjudicated rapist,” expressing his disappointment with the couple’s choices.

Whitford’s outrage came in response to a previous post from Kamala HQ that highlighted Trump’s long-standing opposition to Roe v. Wade. He addressed Hines directly, saying, “Hey @CherylHines, way to stay silent while your lunatic husband throws his support behind the adjudicated rapist who brags about stripping women of their fundamental rights. Gutsy. Great example for the kids. Profile in courage.”

The tweet has garnered over 2.4 million views, 33,000 likes, 6,000 shares, and 4,000 comments.

Trump’s controversial history includes several allegations of sexual misconduct. Most notably, a jury found him liable for sexually abusing columnist Elizabeth Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s.

Meanwhile, Hines expressed her respect for her husband’s decision to run on the principle of unity shortly after he exited the race, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve met some extraordinary people from all parties—Democrats, Republicans, and independents… It has been an eye-opening, transformative and endearing journey.”

Although Hines has criticized Trump in the past—especially for his remarks about Ted Cruz’s wife—she remains focused on the connections she’s made throughout the political landscape.
