Cheryl Hines shared a heartfelt message for her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., following the passing of his mother, Ethel Kennedy.
Ethel, who was 96, sadly passed away this week. In a touching tribute on X (formerly Twitter), RFK Jr. reminisced about her vibrant spirit, noting her “sense of fun, humor, spark, spunk, and joie de vivre.” He reflected on her deep longing to reunite with her late husband, Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968.
“She wrung joy from every moment,” he expressed, highlighting her enduring love for him.
In response to her husband’s emotional tribute, Hines wrote, “Your mother was very proud of you, Bobby,” and added a white heart emoji to convey her support.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm actress had earlier honored her mother-in-law with a nostalgic post, sharing a photo of Ethel by the sea. “It has been my great honor to have shared laughter and love with Ethel,” she stated. Cheryl fondly recalled evenings spent in Hyannis Port, filled with dinner and entertaining stories from Ethel’s remarkable life.
Hines continued, “She always made me laugh and dressed to the nines with bare feet. She will be missed.” She concluded with, “My love is with the family.”
Ethel Kennedy, born in Chicago in 1928, married Robert F. Kennedy in 1950 and had 11 children. Notably, her husband was assassinated in 1968, just five years after her brother-in-law, John F. Kennedy, was also killed. Ethel passed away on October 10, following a stroke she had suffered in her sleep on October 3.
Joe Kennedy III, Ethel’s grandson, shared a message on X announcing her passing: “It is with our hearts full of love that we announce the passing of our amazing grandmother, Ethel Kennedy,” he wrote. He acknowledged her impactful work in social justice and human rights and mentioned her legacy of nine children, 34 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished her deeply.
“Please keep her in your hearts and prayers,” he added, noting that the family found comfort in knowing she was reunited with her loved ones.
