Chrishell Stause Defends Herself Following Backlash Over Political Post

Chrishell Stause, known for her role on Netflix’s Selling Sunset, recently made headlines by defending her political views on social media. After sharing a video of Barack Obama’s speech from the Democratic National Convention, a follower urged her to steer clear of politics.

In her Instagram story, Stause expressed her optimism regarding the upcoming election, stating, “I am feeling hopeful because this convention has always been pretty good to kids with funny names who believe in a country where anything is possible,” quoting Obama. This speech came as Obama endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and honored President Joe Biden, reflecting on two decades since his breakout moment in 2004.

In response to criticism, Stause shared a follower’s message that criticized her political posts. She boldly replied, “I don’t get super political on here, but I see nothing wrong with saying that this made me feel hopeful. I would MUCH rather lose followers than have [Donald] Trump as president again.”

As Trump gears up for a possible return in November, the political landscape shows Harris currently leading him in several swing states, according to recent polls.

Stause has previously shied away from political discussions, but she did speak out against the overturning of Roe vs. Wade last June, emphasizing her support for women’s rights. In a tweet, she stated, “I always stand w/ women & their right to THEIR bodies.” She encouraged followers to either engage in discussion or unfollow her if they disagreed.

In a later interview with Vogue, Stause reflected on her upbringing in Kentucky, acknowledging her friendships with those who hold opposing views. Despite this background, she remains committed to women’s rights, highlighting the dangers of rolling back progress in society. “It’s going to take not just the Democratic Party, but people from all sides to say that this isn’t right,” she asserted, also adding, “If men were the ones that had babies, this would not be a conversation!”
