Fans of Taylor Swift are buzzing about a potential reference to her baking skills in boyfriend Travis Kelce’s recent acting debut.
The Kansas City Chiefs player appeared in FX’s new horror drama, Grotesquerie, created by Ryan Murphy. In the show’s third episode, Kelce portrays Ed Laclan, a smooth-talking nurse assisting Detective Lois Tryon, played by Niecy Nash-Betts, in her quest to catch a serial killer.
Kelce’s character is introduced as he helps Tryon, from lighting her cigarette to taking charge when she tries to drink and drive. His protective instincts shine when he breaks her out of the hospital after a car crash and even takes her to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
As a thank-you gesture, Tryon offers to bake a cake for him. When asked what his favorite cake is, Kelce’s character replies, “You know what I like? Pop-Tarts without the frosting,” which fans believe is a sweet nod to Swift’s culinary talents.
Swift has been known for her homemade toaster pastries, even treating the Chiefs to her baking during the 2023 season. Coach Andy Reid revealed on PFT Live: “She made the offensive lineman these homemade Pop-Tarts… She knew right where to go.”
Kelce, who has been dating Swift for over a year, has spoken fondly of their kitchen adventures, mentioning in June, “I thoroughly enjoy cooking with her,” and praised her “great Pop-Tart and cinnamon roll” skills.
Fans on social media, particularly on X, have been quick to notice Kelce’s Pop-Tart mention on Grotesquerie. Comments ranged from playful nods to Swift’s reputation in the kitchen, with one user writing, “Killatrav liking ‘pop tarts’ in #grotesquerie 👀 sounds familiar lol.” Another remarked, “POP TART MENTION HELLO,” while yet another delightedly commented, “travis mentioning pop tarts was so cutesy of him 🤭💘.”
It seems Kelce isn’t the only one impressed with Swift’s baking; even actor Channing Tatum praised her homemade Pop-Tarts during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, expressing surprise at her skills: “Like warm, warm Pop-Tarts. I’m like, ‘Did you just make these? How are these warm?'”
