Donald Trump recently commented that Melania Trump has been reluctant to discuss the assassination attempt against him, which he finds “nice” as it indicates her love for him.
The incident occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, where a shooter opened fire, injuring Trump, killing one person, and wounding two others. The assailant, Thomas Crooks, was shot dead by Secret Service agents.
On The Ingraham Angle on Fox News, Trump revealed that Melania watched the shocking event unfold live on TV.
A clip from the interview was posted to X (formerly Twitter) by Republicans Against Trump, garnering over 126,800 views as of now.
Ingraham inquired about Melania’s feelings upon hearing what happened in Butler, to which Trump replied, “She was watching… it was on everywhere, especially your network.” He noted that while he was on the ground, he asked her about her feelings afterward.
Trump shared Melania’s reaction, saying, “She can’t really even talk about it.” Ingraham suggested she was likely “traumatized.”
Trump agreed, saying this was okay because it showed her affection for him. “If she could talk about it freely, I’m not sure if that would be better, but at least it means she cares,” he explained.
The day after the attack, Melania issued a heartfelt statement online, calling for unity beyond politics and offering condolences to the victims’ families. She emphasized the importance of coming together during difficult times.
In her statement, she mentioned how witnessing the bullet strike her husband made her realize that her life and that of their son, Barron, faced significant risks.
Melania, like Trump and his campaign team, expressed gratitude toward the Secret Service and law enforcement for their protection.
She described Crooks as a “monster” who sought to disrupt her husband’s life, reminding people that love and compassion should trump political disagreements.
Melania urged for a shared human connection, stating that we all desire a better life together. She called for a shift away from division, advocating for an environment rooted in respect and love.
Ending her statement, she thanked those who reached across political divides, highlighting that all politicians are connected to families. “Let us reunite. Now,” she said, urging a collective move away from hate.
