Kathy Griffin recently reached out to her fans on social media, expressing her struggles during this challenging time in her life.
The 63-year-old comedian shared on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) that she’s experiencing a “meltdown” due to ongoing mental health issues. “My life is kind of a s*** show right now,” she admitted. “However, stepping on that stage is what calms me down. So, thanks to everyone in Norwalk, Connecticut and Provincetown, Massachusetts for being there!”
Griffin is currently on tour across the U.S. and Canada with dates confirmed through the end of the year. She performed at District Music Hall in Norwalk on August 23 and at the Town Hall in Provincetown on August 24, where one of her two shows sold out.
Fans flocked to the comments to show their support. Actress Debra Messing encouraged her to “breathe and be gentle with yourself,” while others reminded her of the importance of performing, saying, “Just keep getting on that stage!” Messages of love and appreciation filled the posts, with many fans expressing how much she means to them.
Griffin’s Instagram post has received nearly 10,000 likes and over 490 comments, while her X post has garnered over 6,100 likes and more than 410 comments at the time of this writing.
The star has been candid about her personal life, including her divorce from Randy Bick, which she filed for in December 2023 after nearly four years of marriage. Griffin shared her feelings on Instagram, saying, “Well… s***. This sucks.”
Griffin and Bick began dating in 2011 and tied the knot on January 1, 2020, with Lily Tomlin officiating their wedding.
In addition to her marital issues, Griffin bravely revealed her lung cancer diagnosis in August 2021 but celebrated being cancer-free later that year during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. However, her treatment impacted her vocal cords, prompting concerns about her voice returning to normal. In June, she underwent surgery for her vocal cord issues, announcing on social media that the procedure went well and she hoped to regain some of her voice back.
