Michael Strahan has gained invaluable insights during his daughter’s battle with cancer, particularly from witnessing her remarkable strength through tough times.
The co-anchor of Good Morning America recently shared an update on his daughter, Isabella Strahan, 20, who is now cancer-free following her diagnosis earlier this year.
Isabella was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rare brain tumor, in October 2023. After undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, she celebrated becoming cancer-free this summer and shared her journey on her YouTube channel.
Strahan expressed the immense relief his family felt upon receiving the good news. “Hearing ‘cancer-free’ was exhilarating,” he told People. “But honestly, I still feel nervous.”
He noted that hearing Isabella’s news brought her a sense of closure, allowing her to refocus on her life and goals. “Every day feels like we’re on pins and needles, but it’s a joy to see her ready to move forward,” he shared.
Strahan praised Isabella’s courage during her treatment, which involved multiple surgeries, saying, “It was inspiring yet difficult to watch her share such a personal story.” He believes her journey illustrates that transforming pain into a positive message can help others cope with their struggles.
“I couldn’t be prouder of her,” he added, noting that he hasn’t revisited her vlogs, fearing the emotional impact it could have on him.
Isabella is currently back at the University of Southern California, where she’s enjoying college life. Strahan mentioned, “She’s thriving—loving her classes and being around friends. This experience has truly altered her perspective on life as a young adult.”
