Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer has commended Kamala Harris’ family for their impressive presence at the Democratic National Convention, sharing her thoughts directly with the vice president’s stepdaughter.
Ella Emhoff, 25, the daughter of Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff and film producer Kerstin Emhoff, was spotted enthusiastically supporting her family during the Chicago event as Harris campaigns for the presidency. Ella and her older brother Cole, 29, endearingly refer to Harris as “Momala.”
Ella captured social media’s attention when footage revealed her emotional response to Doug Emhoff’s speech, where he expressed his love and pride for Harris. “I love you so much,” he said, highlighting her ability to rise to every occasion.
As Doug wrapped up his speech, Ella was seen adoringly gazing at him, clutching her chest, and then going on to embrace her mother Barbara Emhoff. At one moment, she even held up a “Doug” sign in appreciation.
Ella later took to Instagram to share highlights from the evening, joking about her tears, saying, “if you saw me cry on tv NO YOU DIDNT,” but adding, “I was crying like a little baby” and expressing immense pride in her family.
Spencer, one of several celebrities at the convention, responded with enthusiasm in the comments, stating, “You guys did a wonderful job introducing all of us to your family. Kamala and Doug give us all hope!”
Harris, who officially entered the presidential race in July after President Biden announced he wouldn’t seek reelection, is gaining momentum in polling as she preps for a matchup against former President Donald Trump.
Spencer, who has openly supported Harris, attended a fundraiser in Michigan and rallied for the Democratic ticket, asserting that “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have delivered.” She emphasized their efforts to enhance the economy and protect women’s rights.
As the November election approaches, Spencer encourages everyone to focus on a crucial goal: “Reject Donald Trump once and for all.” She challenged all to consider which leader they truly trust to advocate for their interests.
