Meghan Markle’s recent speech about the significance of bookstores has taken social media by storm, thanks in part to a clip shared by royal fashion guru Elizabeth Holmes. The Duchess of Sussex was at a private event celebrating the launch of Godmothers bookstore in Summerland, California.
During her address, Oprah Winfrey made a grand entrance, finding her seat in the front row after prepping in a green room for her own speaking engagement.
Given the intimate setting of the bookstore, Oprah’s arrival was noticeably impactful—you could almost hear a pin drop amidst the personal atmosphere.
Holmes shared a clip of this unexpected moment on Instagram, captioning it with: “When you are listening to one VIP and another comes in…” The video has already racked up around 200k views, highlighting the surprising yet delightful interaction between the two icons.
In her post, Holmes mentioned, “A little wave from OPRAH! 👋🤯🙌 and added, ‘It was such a surreal moment!’ She also noted that Oprah had quietly slipped in just as Meghan was speaking.
As Markle discussed the comfort that bookstores provide, mentioning, “The safety of what I was craving I knew I could find in a bookstore,” Oprah was ushered in by a staff member, briefly waving and apologizing for the distraction.
Meghan’s appearance, just a short drive from her home, first made headlines over the weekend; however, it wasn’t until Tuesday that Holmes posted the captivating footage. In a piece for Town & Country, Holmes praised Meghan’s chic all-ivory attire, which included a Ralph Lauren tank top, tailored pants, and accessories from Aquazurra and Khaite.
