Comedian Rosie O’Donnell recently opened up about a frightening experience she had while attending a New York Rangers game. It all unfolded when she and her son, Blake, along with his wife, Teresa, became witnesses to a medical emergency.
In a TikTok video where she described the event, Rosie shared that during the second quarter, a commotion erupted just two rows ahead of them. People surrounding a man began yelling for help, prompting Rosie to panic. “They were screaming ‘Medic! Medic! Medic!’ because this guy had just slumped over,” she recalled.
Feeling overwhelmed, Rosie admitted she isn’t the best in crisis situations: “I get very panicked and very loud.” She rushed down the empty aisle, urging staff to call for help, her voice echoing in the arena. “I was shouting, ‘Call 911, we need a medic!’”
Fortunately, an EMT was quickly on the scene, jumping over seats to assist the man. Though they managed to get the man out and transported him, Rosie couldn’t shake the anxiety about the chaos of a medical emergency in a crowded place.
Reflecting on her response, she shared, “I have this childlike reaction to stress where my ‘fight or flight’ kicks in.” This moment of panic reminded her of how she struggles to cope during emergencies. “Sometimes I annoy myself… My son felt I overreacted, but I felt compelled to act.”
She concluded her video by expressing hope for the man’s well-being, saying, “I pray that guy was OK. I don’t know what happened to him.”
