Stephen King’s Five-Word Take on Tim Walz’s Running Mate Choice

Author Stephen King is back at it, using his platform to comment on political issues with a sharp, five-word tweet.

On Tuesday, King shared his thoughts on X (formerly known as Twitter), endorsing Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate for the 2024 presidential run.

His tweet was straightforward: “Harris/Walz: Good ticket. Strong.”

This came in response to Harris’s video where she called Walz to discuss the vice presidential position. “When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep respect for him… We’re going to unify this country and we’re going to win,” she wrote.

With 416,000 views and 12,000 likes on King’s tweet, it clearly resonated, while Harris’s original post is nearing 10 million views.

King, known for his strong political views, continues to lend his voice to support the Democratic ticket, even retweeting Harris’s announcement about the Walz selection.

Feedback on King’s tweet has been mixed, with some praising the ticket while others voiced their discontent. Comments have ranged from “Definitely better than the other option,” to more critical takes like “Scary for MAGA” and “Harris/Walz: horrible ticket. The commie and the socialist.”

King has regularly voiced his criticism of former President Trump and the GOP, advocating for Democratic values, particularly in light of Harris’s candidacy.

Recently, King made headlines by criticizing Trump for trying to change the schedule of the first debate with Harris. He referred to Trump as “chickens***,” highlighting his perceptions of Trump’s fear of debating women.

Walz, who has been Minnesota’s governor since 2019, gained national attention for his leadership after the George Floyd incident and his moderate approach is seen as a potential asset for Harris’s campaign. His focus on key issues like healthcare and education, along with his longstanding support for LGBTQ+ rights, positions him as a strong candidate for the Democratic ticket.
