Tom Parker Bowles, King Charles III’s stepson, recently shared his candid thoughts on cancer, calling it “a b******”. He praised the king as a “tough man” as he continues his treatment following his diagnosis earlier this year. Parker Bowles, the son of Queen Camilla, became Charles’ stepson after his mother’s marriage to the king in 2005, and he also serves as the king’s godson.
A prominent food writer and critic, Parker Bowles has published several books and frequently shares his insights on the culinary scene in Britain. He and his sister, Laura, have participated in numerous significant royal events since their mother’s wedding, including the 2023 coronation.
In an interview with British Vogue ahead of his latest book, Cooking & The Crown: Royal Recipes From Queen Victoria to King Charles III, Parker Bowles discussed his family’s dynamics, particularly regarding the king’s health. After announcing his prostate cancer diagnosis in February, Charles temporarily reduced his public engagements.
“The King’s having the best treatment,” Parker Bowles said, reassuring fans about his stepfather’s wellbeing. “He’s a great man and a tough man, and you’ve just got to get on with it. Of course, anyone who has someone they love with cancer is going to worry.”
Later, doctors cleared Charles for in-person engagements in April, and he’s preparing for his upcoming overseas visit with Camilla. They are scheduled to tour Australia and Samoa from October 18 to 26, although the king will not be extending the trip to New Zealand.
On family relations, Parker Bowles expressed his affection for his stepsiblings, Prince William and Princess Kate, stating, “I absolutely adore both of them.” He wrapped up by expressing a universal desire: “You just want everyone to be happy.”
