Taylor Swift’s Grace Under Pressure: A Side-by-Side Video of Her Poised Performance After a Malfunction

Taylor Swift’s ability to handle onstage hiccups has become a talking point among her fans, who have compiled videos highlighting her poise during live performances.

Currently, Swift is wrapping up her history-making Eras Tour, which will have spanned 152 concerts across five continents by the end of its run.

It’s not surprising that, given the vast settings of these stadium shows, Swift has faced her share of onstage snafus. However, a new clip demonstrates how she tackles them with expert finesse.

A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @thisisvertrying captures Swift performing “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? (WAOLM)” at two different concerts—the first in Paris in May, and the second in New Orleans on October 27.

During the Paris show, Swift dazzles atop a rotating silver cube, affectionately called “the roomba” by fans, while clutching a white pole for balance. However, when the cube falters at the New Orleans concert, a quick-thinking Swift gracefully leaps off and continues her performance seamlessly, hitting all the same dance moves as if she were still on the cube.

“Wow this video really shows how professional Taylor is, she was still doing the whole ‘WAOLM’ choreography while improvising after the stage malfunction,” the user commented on the post.

Responses to the video poured in from fellow fans, praising Swift’s experience. One user wrote, “It’s amazing to consider her decades of live performance. Even though she’s young, she’s definitely a seasoned pro!”

Another added, “I can almost guarantee that Taylor and her dancers have rehearsed for every scenario. That’s the kind of pro she is!” And one fan noted the impressive nature of her performance amid the malfunction, saying, “It was stunning, especially since it was all improv!”

Throughout her Eras Tour, Swift has dealt with various stage blunders, from accidentally swallowing a bug mid-song to sprinting across the stage during technical issues. At one concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, she was taken aback when her piano began playing bizarre sounds on its own.

“Did you hear that? Do you hear the piano? That’s insane,” she said with a laugh, quickly switching from the piano to a guitar.
