Zach Bryan’s concert in Philadelphia faced an unexpected hiccup on Tuesday due to severe weather conditions.
The country star was scheduled to light up the stage at Lincoln Financial Field when storms rolled in, prompting officials to advise attendees to seek shelter immediately.
“Severe weather is still lingering in the area – for your safety, please stay sheltered away from open seating areas,” Lincoln Financial Field shared via X, formerly Twitter, on August 7. “We’ll keep you updated.”
Fortunately, the stadium reassured fans that the show was “NOT cancelled,” stating that gates would reopen as soon as the weather cleared.
After approximately two hours, the storm subsided and the concert was back on.
“The severe weather has moved out of the area, and it’s now safe to return to your seats. Estimated start time is 10:20 PM,” the stadium announced.
The National Weather Service had issued a flood warning, reporting that the region had received between 2 to 4 inches of rain, with some areas exceeding 5 inches.
This delay stirred up a mix of reactions online, with many expressing frustration over how the situation was managed.
“It’s ridiculous to not cancel,” one Twitter user remarked, criticizing the decision to keep gates closed during a weather warning. “There was plenty of notice this would happen.”
Another user shared, “We can’t control the weather, but refusing to cancel is absurd. Think of all the fans who paid a fortune for tickets. Time to refund us.”
A third noted the irony of the storm hitting right after the opening acts had finished: “You’d think they’d have seen this coming.”
Yet, some fans were unfazed. “I managed to snag tickets for Zach Bryan tonight, and despite the rain, it was magical,” one shared on X. “I love the cross-over merch!”
Another fan exclaimed, “After waiting a whole year for this concert, it totally changed my life.”
As part of his “Quitting Time Tour,” Bryan expressed gratitude for his fans in an Instagram post, saying, “This year has been a dream. The boys are headed home to gear up for more.”
He has one more performance in Philadelphia tonight before heading to Atlanta this weekend. Other recent concerts, including those of Lana Del Rey and the Foo Fighters, have also faced weather-related delays.
