Social media has been buzzing after a man’s impressive feat of consuming an outrageous amount of pasta, with his video racking up over 18 million views!
Darryl Kau, a 56-year-old foodie, recently visited the Olive Garden in Kapolei, Hawaii, with his daughter, Daysha Kau, to take on their legendary never-ending pasta challenge. In an astounding two-hour session, Darryl managed to eat 11 bowls of pasta, along with some breadsticks and minestrone soup!
Daysha explained how the challenge works: “You can choose your pasta type, like fettuccine or rigatoni, and mix and match sauces, such as marinara or Alfredo. My dad polished off 10 bowls of his own before finishing my mom’s leftover bowl to hit 11!”
Darryl’s favorite ended up being the creamy mushroom sauce with angel hair pasta, and the video of his epic pasta adventure went viral on TikTok (@dayshavuuuu) last September.
Despite his pasta binge, Darryl isn’t put off by the thought of returning for more, although he’s not quite ready to dive back in just yet. Daysha plans to go back when the promotion comes around again, noting that they enjoy exploring various buffets for her dad, who has always had a hearty appetite.
“It’s not something we can do regularly, but there’s definitely more food content coming! It’s heartwarming to see so many positive comments about him,” she said, surprised by the online reaction and newfound TikTok following for her dad.
The video has attracted over 13,300 comments, many praising Darryl’s impressive capacity for pasta consumption. One user even joked, “11 bowls of pasta has to be some type of record? Your dad is amazing.”
Even Olive Garden’s official account chimed in, suggesting he add “pasta pro” to his resume, and others noted, “Now that’s how you get your money’s worth!”
