A South African musician has taken the internet by storm with a catchy remix based on a now-famous quote from former President Donald Trump during last week’s presidential debate. The remix not only offers entertainment but also supports a good cause, with proceeds going to the SPCA.
During the debate, Trump made a bizarre statement claiming that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, were “eating the dogs” and “the cats.” This moment caught the attention of musician Scott, known as The Kiffness, who quickly began crafting a remix from the quote.
He recalls, “I thought the quote was amusing and a bit outrageous, so I decided to give remixing it a shot.” The result, titled “Eating the Cats,” was released on YouTube and quickly went viral, capturing nearly 5 million views in just five days and landing at No. 4 on the trending music channel.
The remix kicks off with Trump’s original quote, then adds a lively reggaeton beat. The lyrics humorously entice Springfield residents with alternative food choices, singing, “People of Springfield, please don’t eat my cat. Why would you do that? Eat something else,” while incorporating fun dog howls and meows.
Scott plans to donate the proceeds from the song to the Clark County SPCA in Springfield. By Tuesday night, the track had already raised $16,000 via YouTube, with more contributions expected as the streams continue to grow.
“We’ve spoken with Krissi Hawke, the SPCA president, and they’re thrilled about the funding,” Scott shared. “She laughed and even had tears of joy after seeing my video.” He further added, “As a South African, I’m non-partisan; music and animals bring us together, regardless of political views.” His hopes for the U.S. elections are that they remain fair and free, wishing blessings for America.
Following the debate, Trump’s peculiar claim sparked a flurry of online activity, with many users creating TikTok videos of their pets reacting to the quote, adding to the humor of the situation.
