A creative project turned into quite the spectacle for one U.K. woman and her 3-year-old black Labrador, Basil.
In a viral TikTok video (@basilionbrush), which has garnered over 781,000 views, Anna showcased a macramé wall hanging she crafted using a stick she picked up during one of their walks.
In her post, she mentioned: “I made a wall hanging with a stick I found on Basil’s dog walk. Basil loves this stick and thinks it’s his. Basil has been crying at the wall hanging for 20 minutes.”
From the get-go, Basil was enamored with the stick. Anna shared, “I had to hide it under my jacket on the way home so he wouldn’t snatch it. Even while I was crafting, he was right by my side, whining and trying to grab it.”
Anna assumed that once the artwork was complete, Basil might forget about the stick. Not quite. “While I was in another room, I heard him whining and found him in the bathroom, fixated on the stick in the wall hanging,” she recounted.
Viewers on TikTok quickly chimed in, with comments ranging from “It’s technically Basil’s stick, so give it back!” to playful quips like, “What happened to finders keepers?” and “He’ll claim it back next time you leave him home.”
Having never posted on TikTok before, Anna was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming reaction to her video. “I just wanted to bring a bit of joy to someone’s day. I didn’t expect this many people to see it—it’s wonderful to see others enjoying Basil’s charm!”
