A 13-year-old Lhasa apso named Chaktah is winning hearts online after his owner revealed he’s been fooling them for nearly a year.
This clever pup managed to convince his family that he couldn’t tackle the stairs on his own, leading them to carry him up and down every day.
However, in a now-famous video, the owner’s discovery showed that Chaktah can actually navigate stairs like a champ after they caught him in the act. “This is the face of a senior dog who just got caught in a massive lie,” the video humorously pointed out, showcasing his sheepish expression. The owner shared that Chaktah would bark until he was treated like royalty, blissfully unaware that they had their doubts.
One day, after being carried upstairs as usual, they noticed clues that Chaktah had been getting around by himself; a neatly stacked pile of clothes had mysteriously scattered across the floor.
“We get it, he just missed us and wanted some extra love,” the owner remarked, laughing at Chaktah’s antics. “He can manage the stairs just fine,” the owner added, “but he’s definitely not going to give up on being carried.”
The video has since gone viral with over 600,000 views, prompting fellow dog lovers to chime in with their reactions.
One user joked, “Your honor, my client is innocent. There is zero evidence my client was ever at the scene of the crime.” Another viewer, Mads, shared a similar experience: “As a dogsitter, I met a 15-year-old dog who was supposedly unable to do stairs, yet every night he magically ended up in my room!”
Others had their own tales of canine trickery. Viewer E1234567 said, “I know a dog like that—always pretending he can’t go up the stairs just to be carried!” Another commenter, Rebecca, quipped, “I’m convinced my dog acts deaf just to get her way.”
