Sleepy Dog Thwarts Owner’s Attempt to Send Him to Bed

A tiny dachshund named Clarke is winning hearts all over social media after refusing to settle down for the night following a playful day. Living in Washington state with owners Chloe Pietropaolo and Cletus LoRusso, this long-haired miniature dachshund is definitely the household boss.

On August 25, a TikTok video featuring Clarke went viral, racking up over 1.6 million likes and a whopping 9 million views. In the clip, Chloe gently plays tug-of-war with Clarke while soothing him. As he starts to drift off, he begins to lose interest in the toy and emits a sound similar to a cat’s purr.

However, things take a turn when he realizes what’s happening. Suddenly wide awake, he becomes quite agitated and jumps up at Chloe in protest.

Chloe captioned the video: “POV you realize Mom is trying to put you to sleep after playing for the last hour.” She even shared that she usually calms Clarke down by running her finger along his nose and head, and this time she was just trying to catch a cute family moment.

With laughter in the air, she and her husband, game developer LoRusso, thought it would be fun to share Clarke’s hilarious reaction online.

Viewers chimed in with their thoughts, with one commenter joking about “not succumbing to witchcraft,” while another noted how quickly Clarke snapped back to alertness, stating, “He was drifting, then like wait no!”

Pietropaolo, a paralegal, is still amazed by Clarke’s viral fame. “He’s our whole world, and to see over 9 million people enjoy him is incredible,” she exclaimed.

The couple chose a dachshund after thorough research, and it was “love at first sight” when they met Clarke. Renowned for their loyalty and big personalities, dachshunds can be stubborn, as evident in this video. Remarkably, Clarke ranks No. 6 on the American Kennel Club’s list of most popular dog breeds in 2023.

Now a year old, Clarke has some quirky habits, including his obsession with laundry, especially socks. “Packing is a challenge because he always manages to ‘acquire’ my socks,” Chloe joked.
