Love playing “Connections” to relax and test your brain?
Introduced by The New York Times last summer, Wordle was the second most popular game in the paper.
Connections challenges you to find the links between a set of words. Check out today’s clues and answers at the end of this post.
How to Play Connections:
In Connections, sort 16 words by their associations. For instance, words like “Foxtrot”, Hotel, Victor, and Yankee might fall under “NATO Phonetic Alphabet”.
Each of the four categories is color-coded for difficulty – green, blue, and yellow indicating lower difficulty levels. Sometimes, the puzzles throw you curveballs using wordplay and homophones to keep things interesting.
The topics range from movie franchises to body parts. Remove words from the grid by figuring out the connections. You get four guesses, but if you make four mistakes, game over!
Stuck? Use the shuffle feature to get unstuck.
The game’s various difficulty levels boost challenge. Liu, from Times, mentioned the need for diverse categories to keep the game both gratifying and tough. She encourages creative associations over literal meanings.
Category difficulty also considers the word’s commonality in everyday language. The game cleverly tests players using “item crossover”, connecting words to multiple categories.
According to Liu, caution is exercised when adding standout items to the grid to challenge players further.
