As the week winds down, it’s understandable if you’re a bit slower mentally.
Josh Wardle, a New York software engineer, created the Daily Word Game in 2013. Initially for his puzzle-loving wife during COVID-19, Wordle was released to the public on October 20, 2021.
In January 2022, user numbers skyrocketed to 300,000 from just 90 in November 2021. The New York Times acquired Wordle in January 2022 for a low seven-figure sum, but the game remains free.
The game is simple: guess a 5-letter word using the color-coded clues. Green means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means correct letter but in the wrong spot, and gray means incorrect letter.
The choice of five-letter words and six guesses was carefully crafted for the right balance of challenge and achievability.

Wordle #1,090 Answer for Friday, June 14
Today’s word: “Vault”
Merriam Webster defines it as an arched masonry structure, tomb chamber, or covered space.
If you’re stuck, don’t worry. You can try again tomorrow when the game resets at midnight.
Even Wardle himself struggles with the game, needing multiple tries to guess correctly.
While waiting for the reset, why not try another word game like The Connections? It’s NYT’s popular game after Wordle, where players group words by association.
