Hey there, word game enthusiasts! It’s been a year since the online word game sensation by The New York Times was launched back on June 12.
Word puzzles have taken a spot as the second most popular games on the site after Wordle. While similar to Wordle, Connectivity challenges players to find connections between a set of words.
Below are the instructions on how to play. Stay tuned for today’s crossword puzzle clues and answers later on.
Connect – How to Play?
In this brain-teaser, you need to group 16 words based on their associations. For example, in today’s puzzle, words like “bi,” “buy,” “by,” and “bye” would all fit under “homophones.”
Each category is color-coded to indicate its difficulty level – yellow is easiest, followed by blue, green, and purple. Despite the seeming simplicity, these puzzles can be pretty challenging.
Themes vary from body parts to movie franchises. Once you discover the groupings, those words disappear from your grid. You get only four guesses, and each incorrect one increases the difficulty. After four wrong guesses, it’s game over.
For those tough spots, use the shuffle feature to mix up the words on your screen.
The game’s difficulty levels have a purpose, as explained by New York Times puzzle maker and editor, Wyna Liu. She aims to provide a satisfying and challenging experience by offering diverse categories.
Categories may involve wordplay, such as palindromes or homophones. It’s not just about knowing uncommon words; difficulty also comes from word associations across categories, requiring a deeper level of thought.
Today’s challenge awaits you at the end of this article. Can you crack it?
