FedEx has apologized for a viral video showing a driver handling a Florida man’s $1,000 gift package poorly.
Justin Fernandez in Wesley Chapel, Tampa Bay recorded the driver dropping off a top-of-the-range coffee machine he purchased for his fiancee on June 6.
Watching the clip back, Fernandez was upset because the coffee machine was a special birthday gift that cost $1,068.93.
“I was particularly upset because it was a birthday gift for her,” Fernandez said. “She’s very passionate about coffee.”
Accidents do happen. Studies show that around 7-11% of online orders arrive damaged.
Although the machine worked fine, Fernandez didn’t file a formal complaint with FedEx after the incident.
Still bothered, he shared his experience on social media, saying, “It was an expensive gift that meant a lot. Seeing it mishandled tarnished the whole experience.”
His post titled “Just got my $1,000 Espresso machine delivered, thanks FedEx!” has gained over 4,000 upvotes.
Some users advised Fernandez to complain about the incident and hold the driver accountable for negligence.
Fernandez hopes this incident prompts a better work culture at FedEx where drivers show more care for the packages they handle.
