A woman has recently detailed her decision to involve the police regarding a neighbor she describes as an “old grumpy creepy boomer.”
Margaret, who hails from Louisiana, shared her unsettling saga on Reddit under the username u/AlwaysAngryFox. Her post received over 7,600 upvotes and sparked countless discussions.
According to Margaret, her troubles with the neighbor began shortly after he moved in. He consistently made her uncomfortable with his behavior.
“He leaves junk outside his door, doesn’t manage his guests, tosses food and trash in shared spaces, and even swung a cane at my dog once,” she recounted.

After enduring this ongoing issue for over a year, Margaret installed a security camera in hopes of deterring him. However, a recent incident escalated the situation.
Last week, while waiting for a book delivery, the neighbor attempted to take her package again. She confronted him through the intercom, but he returned shortly after and took it anyway.
“I had it. I got off work early, came home, and called the police,” she explained. Officers reviewed the footage and warned the neighbor, stating that any further incidents could lead to more serious consequences.
Reflecting on her choice, Margaret noted, “I’m just exhausted from dealing with him. This problem has persisted for about a year, and I’m over it. Everyone has their breaking point.”
Comments on her Reddit post overwhelmingly supported her actions, criticizing the neighbor’s behavior.
“Definitely press charges on that old fool,” replied user PawnWithoutPurpose. Another commenter added, “It sounds like he’s trying to provoke you or establish dominance. You’re right to take action. He should back off.”
While some speculated the man may be lonely or dealing with confusion, Margaret wasn’t convinced. “Some suggest he might have dementia, but that’s not the case. He acts that way on purpose,” she stated. “Even if he did, that’s not my issue. He doesn’t belong in my life.”
This isn’t the first time a “boomer neighbor” has faced criticism online; earlier this year, another Redditor received praise for their clever retaliation against a troublesome neighbor.
