Everyone knows the old wedding saying: “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” But for a group of college pals, the “something borrowed” has taken on a whole new meaning, becoming a special wedding tradition among them.
It all started with a purse gifted to one friend, which led to a pact amongst the group that this lucky bag would make an appearance at each of their weddings. Inspired by the movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” these four close friends—Brooke Hyland (26), Morgan Mix (26), Kayla Young (26), and Ashley Russell (26)—decided to create their own version called “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Purse.”
The bond between these friends, who met on the first day of their freshman year at Ohio University in 2016, has only grown stronger over the years. Despite the challenges of distance, their closeness remains intact, much like in the movie that inspired them.
In a heartwarming TikTok video, Hyland, known for her appearance on “Dance Moms,” unveiled the purse with her sister Paige. They revealed the bag’s travels from weddings to local receptions, and even a destination wedding in Mexico.
As the purse made its rounds, visiting different states for bachelorette parties and weddings, it became a testament to the enduring friendship of these four women.
In a sweet touch, they plan to embroider their initials inside the bag after each has had their turn. Eventually, the bag will be passed down to their children for their special days, keeping the tradition alive for generations to come.
