Exciting news from Buckingham Palace – Prince Charles is thrilled that Princess Kate will be joining the family for the Trooping the Colour festivities in London this Saturday.
It’s the princess’s first public appearance with the royals since December, as she continues her treatment after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
The palace shared with the BBC their delight that Princess Charlotte would also be part of tomorrow’s event.
Trooping the Color, the grandest event on the Royal Calendar, is a June tradition marking the monarch’s official birthday.
Kate, who wed Prince William in 2011, is a familiar face on Buckingham Palace’s balcony, and she’s an integral part of royal events. Speculations about her attendance at this year’s ceremony had been swirling in Britain all week, but Kensington Palace only confirmed it hours before.
With a personal message from the Palace, Kate confirmed her attendance at the Trooping Event with her whole family, marking her first health update since March 22, when she revealed her diagnosis.
“The overwhelming kindness of all the messages I’ve received in the last few months has been a great comfort to William and me during tough times,” Kate shared.
She also spoke about the highs and lows of chemotherapy, emphasizing the importance of listening to your body and taking things slow.
“My treatment is ongoing for a few more months, and although I look forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this Saturday with my family, we will also be cautious and patient with future public appearances.”
Kate expressed gratitude for the support and shared experiences from those around her.
Alongside her statement, a photograph captured by photographer Matt Porteous at Windsor Castle this week was released.
It’s anticipated that Kate will be accompanied by Prince William, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other senior royals at the event.
