Dodgers Break NL Postseason Record for Longest Stretch Without Allowing a Run

The Los Angeles Dodgers are making waves in the 2024 baseball season!

As they gear up for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets, the Dodgers have etched their names into the record books.

They’ve now set a new National League record with 29 consecutive scoreless innings!

This new record surpasses the previous mark held by the 1905 New York Giants, who posted 28 scoreless innings back in October.

The Dodgers are keen on taking a 1-0 lead in this best-of-seven series against the Mets.

The streak began during Game 3 of the NL Division Series against the San Diego Padres. After a rocky second inning where they gave up six runs, the Dodgers’ pitching staff has been nothing short of stellar.

The bullpen, which includes standout pitchers like Blake Treinen, Ryan Brasier, and Evan Phillips, has been a game-changer, leading the team through the postseason.

Before entering the NLCS, they had already accumulated 24 scoreless innings against the fiery Padres. It was a real rollercoaster in Game 3, but the bullpen’s resurgence was pivotal to the Dodgers winning that series in five games.

In Game 4 of the NLDS, the Dodgers opted for a bullpen game and it paid off, with eight pitchers combining for a flawless performance: zero runs, just two walks, eight strikeouts, and seven hits across 146 pitches.

For Game 5, they started their high-profile pitcher, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who silenced critics by delivering five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and one walk.

Then in Game 1 of the NLCS, Jack Flaherty kept the momentum going, recording seven scoreless innings with two hits, two walks, and six strikeouts in 98 pitches.

Flaherty had struggled in Game 2 of the NLDS, clocking a 6.75 ERA, but turned things around against the Mets, allowing the Dodgers to shine offensively.
