Jordan Montgomery, the Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher, recently expressed frustration with superagent Scott Boras after a tough start to the season. After signing a one-year, $25 million deal on March 29 — the last major free agent to do so — Montgomery decided to switch representation to rival agency Wasserman.

Last winter, his talks with the Boston Red Sox didn’t pan out, and rumors suggested he was uninterested in joining the team, opting instead for a better shot at postseason play with Arizona, who reached the World Series last fall.
However, Montgomery clarified to the Boston Herald that he and his wife actually liked the area and felt Boston could have been a great fit. “We loved it here,” he said. It seems there may have been a mix-up in communication regarding his free agency leads, leaving him feeling misrepresented by Boras.
He mentioned a productive Zoom call with the Red Sox but expressed his desire to move past the offseason hustle. Unfortunately, this season has been rocky for Montgomery — he recently posted a 6.44 ERA over 19 starts, including a challenging outing where he allowed six runs in 5.2 innings.
In light of his performance, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo announced Montgomery would be shifting to the bullpen as the team fights for a Wild Card spot in the NL, trailing the Dodgers by four games while leading the Padres by half a game.
