Isaiah Thomas is not ready to hang up his basketball shoes just yet.
The versatile guard, a two-time All-Star and member of the 2017 All-NBA 2nd Team, recently showcased his skills during a workout with the Milwaukee Bucks as he aims to secure a spot in his 13th NBA season. According to a tweet from Shams Charania of The Athletic, Thomas took part in the workout session with a group of former NBA players.

“Sources revealed that Isaiah Thomas underwent a workout for the Bucks today in Las Vegas,” reported Charania. “The seasoned guard, a two-time All-Star, is eyeing a comeback to the NBA after concluding last season with the Phoenix Suns following an impressive stint in the NBA G League. The workout in Las Vegas also featured Justise Winslow, Hamidou Diallo, Will Barton, and Jaylen Nowell—former NBA guards looking to potentially secure a training camp opportunity with the Bucks.”
Thomas earned a 10-day contract with the Suns last season, playing in six games. These marked his first NBA appearances since the 2021-22 season, where he featured in 22 games for the Hornets, Lakers, and Mavericks.
Since his standout years with the Boston Celtics from 2015-17, where he achieved back-to-back All-Star selections and All-NBA 2nd Team honors, Thomas has experienced a series of team changes. Despite once being a scoring powerhouse, averaging 28.9 points per game in the 2016-17 season, his production has since declined, with no season surpassing 16 points per game and limited appearances due to injuries.
Standing at just 5-foot-9, Thomas possessed a remarkable ability to score against taller defenders, which has been somewhat overlooked in recent years. Now, at 35, he remains determined to continue his NBA journey.
Thomas faces stiff competition from other seasoned NBA veterans like Winslow, Diallo, Barton, and Nowell for a potential spot on the Bucks’ roster. Winslow last played in the 2022-23 season with the Trail Blazers, Barton split time between the Wizards and Raptors, Nowell featured for the Grizzlies and Pistons, and Diallo had a brief stint with the Wizards.
