From NBA Courts to the Silver Screen: Veteran Player Jets Off to Join Turkish Team

NBA veteran Boban Marjanović has signed with Fenerbahçe, a top Turkish basketball team, after nine seasons in the NBA.

His agency, Excel Sports, confirmed the move to NBA insider Marc Stein. Marjanović’s contract is for one year, allowing both parties to opt out before January.

At 36 years old, Marjanović stands 7-foot-4 and has had a unique journey in the NBA, playing for teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, and Dallas Mavericks. During his NBA career, he averaged 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in about 8.7 minutes of play. Last season, he appeared in only 14 games with Houston.

Before joining the NBA in 2015, Marjanović played successfully in Serbia, Russia, and Lithuania, earning several accolades including All-EuroLeague and Serbian League MVP honors.

Now, Marjanović is ready for this new chapter in Turkey, hoping to continue his impressive performance on the court.

His NBA journey began with the Spurs when they signed him for a one-year, $1.2 million deal. He later signed with the Pistons following a lucrative offer, before being traded to various teams throughout his career, including the Clippers and 76ers.

Known for his larger-than-life personality, Marjanović is regarded as one of the NBA’s more lovable figures. Fans will be excited to see how he adapts to this new overseas opportunity.
