NBA Legend Makes Comeback After Eight-Year Hiatus

After eight years away from professional basketball, former NBA star Chris Bosh made a surprise return to the court for a special occasion—honoring his former teammate Goran Dragic.

Dragic hosted an impressive farewell game in his hometown of Ljubljana, Slovenia, featuring a lineup of Hall of Famers, including Bosh, Dirk Nowitzki, and Steve Nash, alongside current stars like Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic.

In a chat with Mindaugas Bertys of BasketNews, Bosh reflected on his career’s end and the emotional journey that followed, describing it as “the death of my career.” He shared, “It was tough … dealing with loss and grief made me stronger and more focused on being a father.”

Bosh was drafted fourth overall in the stacked 2003 NBA Draft, joining future legends like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. After seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors, he made a vital move to the Miami Heat, contributing to four straight NBA Finals appearances and two championship wins in 2012 and 2013, solidifying his legacy as one of the era’s standout players.

After LeBron’s departure to the Cavaliers in 2014, Bosh chose to remain in Miami on a lucrative contract but faced significant health challenges that led to an early retirement. His last game in the NBA was on February 9, 2016, against the Spurs—after which he battled serious health issues due to blood clots.

Bosh’s career statistics include averages of 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and impressive shooting splits over 893 games. Despite the ups and downs, he concluded, “It all went good. A couple of championships, great teammates, and unforgettable stories. I’m a lucky guy.”
