NBA Teams Battling for Serbian Olympic Sensation

Several NBA teams, notably the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers, are showing interest in Serbian guard Aleksa Avramovic, as reported by Serbian outlet Ozon Press.

Latest Buzz: Magic’s Paolo Banchero is optimistic about their chances in the East this season.

Time is of the essence for teams looking to negotiate with Avramovic, as he has a contract with CSKA Moscow that includes an out clause expiring soon. If the Hawks and Clippers are serious, they must act before Tuesday.

Avramovic recently shone at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he was named Best Defensive Player. He averaged 10.5 points, shooting an impressive 53.3% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range.

At 29, Avramovic has gathered significant experience, having spent the last three seasons with Partizan, where he averaged 10.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, shooting 49.7% from the field.

His contract with CSKA includes a buyout option, which an NBA team could help cover up to $850K. While no formal offers have been made by the Hawks or Clippers yet, movement could happen in the next few days.

If no NBA team steps up, Avramovic will continue his career in Russia, as he gets ready for training camp starting August 26.

During the Olympics, he contributed significantly to Serbia’s bronze medal run, even coming close to a historic upset against Team USA in the semifinals, where he scored 15 points in just 18 minutes.

Avramovic could bring valuable experience to either the Hawks or Clippers, both of which currently have 15 players signed. To make room, they would need to release someone with a guaranteed contract.
