With aspirations of becoming a fan favorite in a city filled with professional sports teams, the Clippers hope this new arena will help boost their following.
This season marks a significant overhaul for the Clippers’ roster. Despite the changes, they still have a top-tier talent in superstar forward Kawhi Leonard, who needs to stay healthy to show what he can do.
Leonard is entering his sixth season with the Clippers and hopes to overcome past injury woes that have plagued him, especially during playoff moments.
As the season approaches, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue assures fans that Leonard will be ready for training camp. “I speak to him all the time,” Lue mentioned in an ESPN interview last week, adding, “He’s feeling good and I know he’ll be ready for training camp.”
Last season was crucial for Leonard, who signed a three-year, $153 million extension to stay with L.A. until 2026-27, taking a gamble due to his health history.
Injuries sidelined him during the first round against the Dallas Mavericks, marking the fourth consecutive year his health has hindered his performance on the court. Despite these challenges, Leonard remains a distinguished player with accolades as a six-time NBA All-Star and a two-time NBA champion, among other honors.
As a Southern California local, Leonard is determined to turn around both his and the Clippers’ fortunes this upcoming season.
