The Los Angeles Clippers are gearing up for a fresh season with a significant challenge ahead. With star forward Paul George moving on to the Philadelphia 76ers during free agency, the team is poised for a new direction.

Now, co-stars Kawhi Leonard and James Harden will be stepping up to help the Clippers break through in the competitive Western Conference. To fill the void left by George, the team is leaning into its overall depth, a strategy that could have proven vital in previous seasons.
The responsibility is rising for head coach Tyronn Lue to maintain peak performance throughout the season. Lue has earned a strong reputation in the NBA for his solid in-game adjustments and effective communication with players.
This summer, Lue also served on Team USA’s coaching staff, contributing to their gold medal win. This experience has kept him engaged and energized for the upcoming season.
Despite the collaboration among NBA teams, Lue is still on a mission to extract defensive strategies from Miami Heat’s head coach, Erik Spoelstra. However, Spoelstra hasn’t budged on sharing his secrets.
“I’ve been trying to get Spo’s zone out of him for two years now,” Lue chuckled.
The Clippers have enlisted former NBA coach Jeff Van Gundy to help revamp their defensive approach this season. Known for his teams consistently ranking high in defensive efficiency, Van Gundy could be a game-changer.
“I’m a little nervous and on edge,” Van Gundy shared with ESPN. “I want to contribute and blend in with the coaching staff because I truly appreciate this opportunity.”
After ranking eighth in defensive efficiency during the 2020-21 season, the Clippers have seen a decline, finishing 17th and 16th in the last two seasons.
Lue and Van Gundy are ready to tackle the challenges ahead, committed to demonstrating that the Clippers can still compete in the Western Conference, even after the loss of George.
