Controversial figure Andrew Tate made headlines on Monday by claiming that women shouldn’t have the right to vote. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “Women shouldn’t vote because they don’t care about issues outside of how THEY feel,” suggesting that women lack the ability to consider the broader implications for society.
Tate, 37, is currently under house arrest in Romania while awaiting trial on various human trafficking charges alongside his brother Tristan Tate, 36, and two Romanian women. These allegations include serious offenses such as trafficking minors, sexual acts with minors, and forming an organized criminal group.
Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, is investigating these accusations, which span from 2014 to 2024. The Tate brothers also face sexual assault allegations in the U.K., which they deny.
With a follower count of 10 million on X, Tate is known for his controversial, often misogynistic remarks. He has been banned from platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. In past interviews, he has identified as a misogynist and stated that realism often aligns with sexist viewpoints.
In his recent post, Tate criticized women’s voting preferences, arguing they focus on personal feelings rather than the broader societal impact. He metaphorically compared women’s perspectives to a soap opera, suggesting their worldviews revolve only around their own experiences.
Tate’s comments were a response to a related post by Andrew Torba, CEO of Gab, who criticized female voters for prioritizing reproductive rights, asserting that the 19th Amendment was detrimental to the U.S.
It’s important to note that women achieved the right to vote in the U.S. with the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920. As the upcoming elections approach, reproductive health is anticipated to be a key issue.
Supportive of Donald Trump, Tate recently pledged a significant donation to the former president, who is currently facing legal challenges but continues to assert his innocence.
