Authorities have mentioned that the remains exhibited no apparent signs of foul play and have been sent to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office for further evaluation. However, due to the advanced decomposition, they have been transferred to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification for DNA testing, alongside samples from Harris’s parents.

Harris was last seen on Monday, March 4, close to his off-campus apartment near the A&M campus. The Corpus Christi Police Department led a meticulous search of the area with the assistance of the Coast Guard, Texas Parks and Wildlife, detectives, drones, a dive team, and numerous volunteers from the community.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the remains will be sent back to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office for a final autopsy.

In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook, Randy and Becky Harris recounted the final interactions they had with Caleb.

On the night of Sunday, March 3, at 11:53 p.m., Caleb Harris sent a photo of his roommate’s girlfriend’s dog to his family. Subsequently, at 12:56 a.m. on March 4, a Ring doorbell camera captured footage of Harris, his friend, and one of his roommates playing with the dog in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

At 2:45 a.m., Harris sent a video to his sister, Andie Harris, where he was seen walking the dog around the apartment complex. According to his father, Harris’s phone ceased functioning at 2:58 a.m., but there was another signal pinged shortly after 3 a.m.

A dedicated student pursuing a degree in environmental science at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Harris aspired to become an environmental lawyer. Described by his loved ones as a fisherman, musician, conservationist, and someone hoping to work as a garden warden or in the service of his country.
